The Watershed Coordinator works collaboratively with board members, volunteers, members, donors, and partner organizations to support the mission of Friends of the Middle River (FOMR) and represent its values when interacting with members and the community. The applicant should be passionate about environmental issues and the natural world, and be interested in advocating for the Middle River and its watershed.
This position is a key link in supporting the efficient and smooth day-to-day operations of the organization.
Key Responsibilities and Job Description
Administrative Support:

Handle all the day-to-day financial management including managing accounts, paying bills, financial record-keeping, etc.

Assist with preparation, management and tracking all fundraising campaigns

Attend Board Meetings monthly and assist the board of directors in committee work, schedule board meetings, take meeting minutes, and distribute board materials

Assist committee chairs administratively to realize our mission through fundraising, education, river quality monitoring, clean up and river access

Assist in coordinating events including volunteer recruitment and volunteer management

Draft communications, manage mailings, serve customers, prepare reports, and maintain appropriate filing systems

Order supplies, maintain organization’s retail and office inventory, troubleshoot technology problems, and coordinate with outside vendors for services/repairs

Organize and/or participate in special projects and other tasks as assigned

Contribute to the visibility of the organization by representing FOMR at events

Manage the website and create monthly digital newsletters

Manage membership database and communications
Skill Requirements:
-
Commitment to our mission and belief in the value of nonprofits as drivers of social justice, benefits, and change.

Two years work experience with preference given to those with nonprofit experience
-
Self-starting and self-motivation skills needed to work independently, with minimal oversight
-
Ability to handle multiple tasks, projects, and priorities effectively and professionally

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

Excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with board members, volunteers, members and sponsors
-
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). Experience with QuickBooks, digital newsletters and CRM membership databases is desirable

Willingness to learn new technologies and software as needed

Familiarity with social media and ability to promote FOMR through its use

Must be mindful of sensitive and confidential information
Salary and Job Requirements:
-
Thanks to a generous gift from a donor, we are excited to be able to offer an increased hourly rate range of $20-$23.50 commensurate with experience, no benefits
-
Average weekly commitment of 15 hrs./wk., with the expectation some months will require more hours and some less according to our calendar of activities (busiest season is March to October)

Applicant is expected to have transportation (and valid license and insurance) needed to attend local events (mostly in Augusta County)

Applicant will be provided with a laptop and phone for exclusive use for job requirements

Position requires availability of adequate internet service in their home office for daily cloud and web based activities
