FOMR offers a citizen monitoring program to track the health of the Middle River in Augusta County, Virginia. We partner with the Virginia Save Our Streams (VA SOS) program sponsored by the Izaak Walton League; and collaborate with the Friends of the Shenandoah River and the VA Dept of Game and Inland Fisheries (DGIF). We began monitoring in 2010 and currently monitor eight stations. Our data are provided to the VA Dept of Environmental Quality (DEQ), and are used by them as citizen data. Email Whit Morriss, our Riparian Stewardship Committee Chair, to sign up to become a stream monitor.
We hope you and your family are healthy and feel calm and secure in these extraordinary times. Riverfest is cancelled. Earth Day Staunton and Kites & Critters are postponed. As the spring and summer proceeds, if we learn that we can safely offer events such as float trips or other river events, we will post them here and on Facebook and our newsletters.

Who We Are
FOMR promotes the stewardship and enjoyment of the Middle River Watershed through volunteer action, education, science and outreach.
We envision a healthy and clean Middle River thanks to voluntary conservation practices by everyone in the watershed.
We live in the headwaters and our actions affect everyone downstream — in the Shenandoah River, in the Potomac River and on to the Chesapeake Bay.
