FOMR is seeking volunteers to help at our station at any of these spring events. Help us educate the public by talking and answering questions about the river, working with kids and families, handing out our schedules, assisting with live fish and insect displays, or selling raffle tickets and T-shirts. These events offer us a great opportunity to share our important work with the public. There are still a lot of local folks who do not know FOMR and do not know much about Middle River. We can change that! To volunteer, shoot an email to Kate at info@friendsoftemiddleriver.org or call 540-609-8267 and she will link you with the correct event coordinator so you can get involved. These events are a lot of fun and a great way to connect with the many people working to protect our natural resources locally.

Earth Day Staunton:
Gypsy Hill Park Bandstand. This year’s theme is, “SOS–Save Our Species.” Enjoy kid-oriented activities, see a beehive, look through a solar telescope, take home some native plants and trees, and learn how to save our species. Kids receive a passport to fill out and redeem a prize at the recycled treasure shop. Adults can learn about local environmental issues from the dozens of organizations represented. Free! In the event of rain, Earth Day Staunton will be in the Gypsy Hill Park Gym. And…food trucks! http://www.earthdaystaunton.org
